My Lord, forgive the indiscretions of Your servant. In the pursuit of this world’s pleasures, I have found only nothingness. God, I lift the aches of my prayers to Your throne. Reveal the contemptible dysfunction of my soul that pulls me away from You. Instill the power of the Spirit within me so that I am cleansed. My eyes long for the purity of heart to see You, my God. My soul desires to worship You in endless acts of devotion. When all is darkness around me, You are there to reveal the light of Jesus. It is Your invitation to follow that thwarts my empty pursuit of nothingness. It is Your love that shields me, Your sacrifice that cleanses me and Your Spirit that makes me whole. May the aches of every prayer be relieved by Your servant’s declaration of abiding love in response to Your majestic grace. Holy is Your sanctuary, God, where my entire being lives to dwell. Under the Word of truth in Psalm 139:7-12 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in adoring prayer.
Where shall I go from Your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, You are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, You are there!
If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there Your hand shall lead me,
and Your right hand shall hold me.
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,
and the light about me be night,”
even the darkness is not dark to You;
the night is bright as the day,
for darkness is as light with You.
