Holy God, merciful Savior, my entire being cries out for You because I am incomplete and empty in my cluttered existence devoid of Your Spirit. Rid me of the baggage that distorts my soul with heaviness, Lord. Untie the myriad of knots that tangle me up with deceptive emotions. There are too many threads of selfish desire hanging loose within me. Jesus, tie them up until my heart is completely tethered to Your will, not my own. The land that I dwell in is full of enticing distraction, but the eyes of my heart remain fixed on You. Let Your mighty hand hem me in when the lure of the enemy grabs at me, attempting to pull me off the path set before me. Etch Your Word of truth upon the fiber of my heart so that I am not prey for the traps of illusion set by the enemy of my soul. Lord, You are my Keeper. In You I can find sweet rest within the house of salvation. Under the Word given in Hebrews 4:9-11 and the authority of Christ, I pray.
So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God.
For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors,
just as God did after creating the world.
So let us do our best to enter that rest.
But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.
