Today’s Prayer

Anchor me Lord in the incomprehensible power of Your grace. Lead me into the heart of Scripture even if my intellectual capacity is stretched by the journey. For I long to dwell in the upside-down totality of Your Kingdom. Your presence is the strong breeze that winnows me, removing the chaff of insincerity until all that remains are kernels of deep devotion. I want to be holy Yours. Lead me away from a spirit of compromise. Let the clarity of Your will not become clouded by my own double-mindedness. Whom shall I run to Lord when You have the Words of eternal life? Dethrone all temporal and material idols that vie for my attention. Such devotions become too murky of a distraction, creating looming blind spots that cause me to fall into pits. I need the light of Your consistent guidance, Jesus. Too often I have resisted Your better judgment, Lord, in denying certain prayerful requests. Forgive the sullen disaffection that robs the intimacy of prayer. May I come to You to be near You, not to require of You. For Your hand of blessing has given me far more than I deserve. And Your arm of mercy has spared me from the wrath I do deserve. Make me Your disciple, Lord, in the fullest measure. Teach me. Draw me. Choose me. Jesus, You are the anchor for my soul. Under the Word of truth given in Hebrews 6:19-20 and the authority of Christ, I bow in humble prayer.

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.
