TITLE: The Fisherman
CATEGORY: Biblical Fiction
He was the son of a fisherman in ancient Judea. Simon lived a simple life within his community until tragedy struck at young age. Catapulted into a storm of unresolved guilt and misplaced blame, Simon could barely keep his head above the waters of adversity swirling around him. The Sea of Galilee was his only refuge, his escape from the vortex of failure threatening to consume him. Drastic measures would be necessary if he was going to save himself. Yet, becoming something he was never destined to be only added to the inner tempest that kept his soul in the midst of a storm. When his brother announced that he found the Messiah, Simon didn’t want to believe it. He both feared it and avoided risking such hope. Meeting Yeshua of Nazareth did not meet his own expectations of a Messiah. The strange Rabbi called him Peter, a rock. What did it mean? Would Simon cast the net of his fears aside and follow this Man in order to become Peter? Would the stormy turmoil of his soul ever be quieted by a deeper understanding of the Kingdom of heaven? Only God could turn this simple fisherman into a fisher of men.
