Today’s Prayer

Lord, may the habitual ingratitude of the culture not infect the devotion of my heart. Within the canopy of thankfulness, let me daily consider the mighty works of Your hands and Your manifest goodness to those You love. The outer shell of this body has become Your temple. Your provisional comforts and consistent strength are my sustenance. Even at my weakest, You are near, holding me up, restoring what has been defiled by infirmity. When You spare me from pain, I am grateful. When You hold me through the hurt, I am thankful. Reshape my mind, Lord God, until my thoughts are infused with heavenly wisdom. Your grace affords me compassionate responses instead of rude comebacks when provoked. Your mercy allows for forgiveness in the place of offense. For such divine manifestations of Your Kingdom, I am grateful. Lord, You have taught me, given to me, delivered me, inspired me and warned me. May Your servant be ever grateful for the blessings of Your presence in my life. May my soul proclaim Your goodness to such an unworthy subject. May I not trample the blessing of Your love with feet determined to wander away, lured by ingratitude. To You, Lord Jesus, I pledge the loyalty of my thankful heart in the full devotion of love’s response. Under the Word of the Lord given in Ephesians 5:1-2 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I pray.

Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children. Walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.
Ephesians 5:1-2, WEB
