Mount me upon the watchtower of my soul, great and mighty King, that I might be warned of the enemy encroaching upon hallowed ground. Though my errors are many and my sins are ever before me, Your forgiveness cloaks me from my shame. Thwart the lurking shadowy influence of selfish malcontent with the indwelling presence of a humble spirit and contrite heart. Though I have been broken, there is no wound that cannot be healed by heaven’s grace. Keep me running into the embrace of prayerful repose, where Your mighty arms encircle and revive me. With divine protection that foresees every attack, I need not fear what evil forces scheme against me. A simple brush of Your fingertips turns all things for the good of Your purpose, God. May the sifting of many trials produce in me a heart rid of the carnal chaff that destroys the crops of faith. Lord, You are my shelter when the mighty winds of change blow evil intentions onto the landscape of human history. Steady my love for You so that anxiety does not taint the purity of the light with which truth is seen. Let infidelity not be the mark that tears apart those sealed in Spirit. Your Name is wonderful. Make all things within me holy responsive to Your divine breath. Under the Word of truth in Psalm 51:16-17 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I pray.
You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it;
You do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart
You, God, will not despise.
Psalm 51:16-17, NIV
May the sifting of many trials produce in me a heart rid of the carnal chaff that destroys the crops of faith–Amen!
