Be a shield about me Lord, for the enemy advances with vehement haste. Old demons haunt Your beloved. Arrows of condemnation fly fast and furious from unforeseen directions. When will the battle end Lord? Watch over my wounded soul as some weapons hit their mark, opening up the scar tissue of past mistakes until I am bleeding shame in my soul once again. Pitch holy sanctuaries throughout my day, Lord, so that I might find refuge until the storm passes. Into Your loving arms, I commend my spirit. Into Your open palms, I place the pieces of my heart. Guide me, Spirit of the Living God. Take me into custody so that I do not perish on my own way. Yours is the only way Jesus. Yours is the singular truth. I thank You for remembering me, for holding me close, taking the brunt of the harm meant for me. Who am I that You would take my offenses so personally? Who am I that You would be my defender against the tyranny of evil? Thank You, Lord. My soul rejoices in the union You have with me. Your mercy makes me an overcomer. Your grace makes me Yours. In this identity, I stand against the schemes of evil. Divine love is Your banner over me. Holy power is my blessed inheritance in Christ. Under the Word of the Lord given in Psalm 3:3-4 and the authority of Christ, I bow in humble prayer.
But You, Lord, are a shield around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high.
I call out to the Lord,
and He answers me from His holy mountain.
