Lord, You are my holy defender, my blessed redeemer. Protect me from the peril of pride. Its shadows lurk deep within my heart, waiting for an opportune time to swallow up the light of humility. Keep me from the dangers of deceit. Distracting worldly temptation turns my head away from following Your staff. One quick step and I find myself at the bottom of a pit. Thankfully, Your arm is always long enough no matter how deep in the mire I seem to sink. Help me shirk the sin that entangles my heart in sticky webs of condemnation. You have chosen me in love, Jesus, and that is enough. Your Spirit’s sanctifying power unravels the messy threads tripping me up from the inside. Exposed, vulnerable and revealed, I bow in awe before the throne of the One who created every inner part. Take my thoughts and turn them into words, Father. Words that glorify You and lift up truth. Intertwine my heart with Your Spirit until radiant glory emanates and shines, driving the shadows back from whence they came. Let me be the child of the day You have designed me to be. Under the Word of promised truth in 1 Thessalonians 5:5 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in adoring prayer.
You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.
1 Thessalonians 5:5, NIV
Distracting worldly temptation turns my head away from following Your staff. One quick step and I find myself at the bottom of a pit. Thankfully, Your arm is always long enough no matter how deep in the mire I seem to sink. Help me shirk the sin that entangles my heart in sticky webs of condemnation. You have chosen me in love, Jesus, and that is enough–Amen!
