Lord, my God, holy Savior and Prince of peace, I come to You for refuge from the whirling tempest of my prying, peeping, suspecting soul. Why is it that I am so easily consumed by a need to know and understand the complex mystery of suffering – both physical and spiritual? If You have deemed my ignorance as a necessary part of Your good will, then let me be content to trust in Your promises through every storm. May I not become entangled in a sticky web of asking ‘why’ until I am bereft of peace. Jesus, hush my silly, fluttering heart with assurances of Your love. You know the details of my adversities. You know the soul sickness that ails Your beloved. In Your divine wisdom the answer rests in the treasure of Your inheritance, the first fruits of Your salvation. Your truth is the only medicine a child of God needs. I am Your creation, Your patient in need of a healing touch. This is Your mighty work, Lord – to cure the virus of sin. Let me wait in trust while You prescribe exactly what I need. In the end, I know that you will make clear the tinted reasons for every adversity no matter how mysterious it may feel to me at the time. Through the ordained pressing let me never doubt Your love. Under the Word of God given in Mark 4:38-40 and the authority of Christ, I pray.
But Jesus was in the stern, asleep [with His head] on the [sailor’s leather] cushion. And they woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are about to die?” And He got up and [sternly] rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still (muzzled)!” And the wind died down [as if it had grown weary] and there was [at once] a great calm [a perfect peacefulness]. Jesus said to them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith and confidence [in Me]?”

May I not become entangled in a sticky web of asking ‘why’ until I am bereft of peace. Jesus, hush my silly, fluttering heart with assurances of Your love–Amen!
