Today’s Prayer

Father, I am in great need of Your perpetual guidance. I dare not traverse the murky waters of this culture alone. Foolishness is the undercurrent of the subtle deceit that catapults me on the ferocious waves of life. But Your Word is my holy anchor. Truly, I need not fear the storms because You are with me, Jesus. Even the invisible depths of these waters are not unseen to You. Only when I become aware of my own tendency toward folly can the oar of truth propel me forward into the calmer waters of wisdom. Lord, I give myself completely into the care of Your Spirit’s navigation. Increase my faith by fixing my eyes on You even though the world rages around me, vying for attention through a hailstorm of fear and despair. You, Lord, are both my counselor and my friend. You are my guide and my salvation. Jesus, be the compass of my heart which keeps me pointing toward the eternal in the midst of the temporal. Your Word is the map, the unerring chart, that helps me avoid the quicksand of cultural belief by guiding me around the pitfalls of deceit until I am safely brought into the haven of my salvation in Christ. Blessed are You, my God, for taking command of this unworthy vessel. I thank You for Your constant attention that keeps my boat afloat despite broken boards and neglected disrepair. Your attentive love and guidance, God, is the source of my gratitude. Under the beauty of the Word in Proverbs 3:5-6 and the authority of Christ, I bow in humble prayer.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to Him,
    and He will make your paths straight
Proverbs 3:5-6, NIV
