Lord God Almighty, bring Your servant into the sunset of life upon the river of flowing faith. By Your Spirit’s indwelling power, let me not grow weary in doing the good assigned to me. And when the rapid movement of the river of life opens up into a calm pool of serene reflection, may I still find that my usefulness to the Kingdom has not been in vain. My bones may be brittle, Lord, but my heart beats strong with adoration for my King. Let me not fear the decay of the body when the soul awaits renewal. Fix my eyes on the fading light of the horizon line, Jesus, with sweet anticipation. It is not night that comes for the soul of a believer but a new day. Truly, there is nothing to fear in the endings when the author of beginnings is intimately known. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for bringing me safely through the stormy gales. In equal measure I trust You to guide me in the still waters. Your servant delights to follow You home. Under the beauty of the Word found in John 17:3-4 and the authority of Christ, I bow in humble prayer.
And this is eternal life, that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. I glorified You on earth, having accomplished the work that You gave Me to do.
John 17:3-4, ESV
