My Father in heaven, You desire obedience over phony worship. You would rather I heed Your voice than pay lip service to Your truth. God forgive me for the flippant attitude with which I sometimes approach Your Word. Forgive me when I come with an agenda, looking for something to confirm my own preference rather than listen to Yours even if it requires me turning away from a previously desired path. Fan the flame of obedient reverence within me, Lord. Raise the intensity of my desire to please You until it fully outweighs the desire to please myself. My disobedience can be subtly conniving, Lord. Even I don’t recognize my own deceit. Open my eyes, Lord, because You are my truth. Enable me to carry out all that You have assigned me in this life. Under the mighty Word of the Lord in 1 Samuel 15:22 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I pray.
