Lord, in my weakened state I reach for the handle of prayer to hold onto lest doubt, confusion and apathy drag me under the tides of either prosperity or adversity. Both can become an enemy if it means that I let go of my relationship to You. So let me always boast in my weakness because it drives me to my knees and compels me to hold onto you with every fiber of my being. How grateful I am that You have tied my heart strings to heaven. You have woven them into the harps that bring You music. Because of my utter dependence on You, Lord, let me delight in my qualification to serve You in Your way, not my own; in Your strength, not my own; and in Your power, not my own. For I cannot accomplish anything of Kingdom worth unaided by divine assistance. The love I have for others is Your love. The grace in forgiveness I extend is the power of Your grace. The people I encounter with truth are there because You put them there. So empty me of any selfish tendencies that might otherwise convince me I don’t need Your help. I do need You in every moment of my life, Lord. My weakness is Your strength. Under the Word of God in 2 Corinthians 12:9 and the authority of Christ, I pray.
But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
