My joy rises above the settled calm even in the secret recesses of my soul because the Lord is my God. Jesus is my Savior. In Him my heart dances in rapturous delight and overflowing holiness. Ignite the fires of my zeal for Your glory, God. Lead my thoughts out of present predicaments and into the deep where admiration of Your inexpressible majesty silences all concerns for self. To reflect You, even in my most humble estate, is far too great an honor for me to let the trappings of this world eclipse with shadow. Illuminate the path of love set before me, Jesus. Steady my steps through humble obedience and daily yielding to Your will. When my condition is lamentable, it is Your song of deliverance that my soul sings. In the midnight hour, when it becomes hard to see Your presence, give me clarity through the eyes of faith. What a friend You are to me, Lord Jesus. What solace that intermingles joy and sorrow of life because my heart is anchored beyond the veil. Under the Word given in Job 19:25-27 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in prayer.

If only my words were written in a book— better yet, chiseled in stone! Still, I know that God lives—the One who gives me back my life— and eventually He’ll take His stand on earth. And I’ll see Him—even though I get skinned alive!— see God myself, with my very own eyes. Oh, how I long for that day!
