Today’s Prayer

My Lord, let my desires for holiness not be polluted by ill motives. Help me find the pests which infect the growth of Your garden delights within me. At times, the fruit of the vine appears shriveled and dying because I have neglected to truly, wholeheartedly abide in You, Jesus. What prompts me to speak of You, Lord? May it be an overflow of inspired adoration and not a need to gain the admiration from others nor a drive to instill envy that my garden is well tended. God, only You can remove the weeds of vanity which taint my motives. Let me pray with sincerity. Let me walk with integrity. Not because I want others to see me but because You know me completely and have loved me anyway. What a fine gardener You have proven to be, Lord. For my heart is complicated and tangled by so many weeds that choke out the holy life I am called to live. Uproot the laxity, the hypocrisy and irreverence of my worship. Kill the carelessness, the need for validation and the selfishness of my service to You. Take away the indolence of prayer, the sleepiness of study and the vanity of my praise. Replant me in holy sincerity and authentic love that looks only to Your heart for affirmation and purpose. Yours is the only opinion that truly matters, Jesus. Not my will but Yours be done. Under the mighty truth of the Word etched in my heart from John 15:8-9 and the authority of Christ Jesus I bow in humble prayer.

In this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so you will be My disciples. Even as the Father has loved Me, I also have loved you. Remain in My love.
John 15:8-9, WEB
